KANSAS CITY FRANCHISE CHOOSES NICKNAME
Northern League Press Release - 12 Oct 2002
"Team officials whittled the pool of entries into their own top 10 list of finalists. Their favorites included Blue Racers, Bullwhackers, Copperheads, Dottes, Flying Monkeys, Mud Daubers, Prairie Dogs, T-Bones, Trail Blazers and Twisters.

The fans’ list of most popular names stuck with names with more traditional or historical significance, Hurd said. The 10 most-often suggested names were Monarchs, Blues, Prairie Dogs, Twisters, Tornadoes, Racers, Jazz, Pioneers, Buffalo (or Bison), Dottes and Meadowlarks."

A cut above the rest: Kansas City T-Bones baseball
Yes, they're really naming the team the Kansas City T-Bones. Congratulations to winner Chris Dunn of Kansas City, MO, who was one of six people who entered "T-Bones" as the team name. Future headlines: Saltdogs Devour T-Bones, T-Bones Smoked Again, T-Bones Too Tough For JackHammers. Something tells me PETA is going to give the T-Bones some free publicity.
