ESPN - Jun 25, 2003
"Baseball America reports that Jeff Baker, the third baseman for the new Northern League team in Kansas City, the T-Bones, was accidentally run over by the Jackhamerrmobile, a VW Rabbit driven by Joliet's team mascot. Baker missed five games with a bruised knee, then was traded shortly thereafter to the St. Paul Saints.

Somebody send that team a crossing guard, will ya?"

A hairy pair of wins for the T-Bones
Kansas City Star - Jun 25, 2003
" 'Mullet Night' at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on Tuesday turned into 'Celebrity Boxing' night. The T-Bones took a pair of victories over the Joliet JackHammers, completing a suspended game with a 9-7 victory before winning the nightcap 11-0. But the real thrill was reserved for the sixth inning of the second game. With the T-Bones' sitting atop an 11-run lead, JackHammers' pitcher Derek Santiago brushed Kansas City's Ray Brown off the plate. Santiago was immediately ejected, and after a verbal exchange between pitcher and batter, Brown charged the mound. Brown was tackled from behind by Joliet catcher Ryan Sienko. Meanwhile, both dugouts and bullpens cleared. That's when T-Bones pitcher Tony Bacci -- who didn't play Tuesday and was wearing a mullet wig and black, wrap-around Oakley sunglasses -- joined the on-field sparring. 'I took it off real quick,' Bacci said of the wig. 'I wasn't going to get in a fist fight with a mullet.' "

It doesn't appear that WHB is broadcasting the first game of tonight's doubleheader. Click here to listen to the JackHammers' broadcast.

The T-Bones roster page has been updated. No uniform numbers, however.

If you can stand the heat, make sure you get out the the CAB by 5:05 PM tonight. That's when the T-Bones and JackHammers will resume their contest from May 28th. That game is currently tied at 5-5, and will resume in the bottom of the fifth with two outs, Joliet batting and a man on first. The regularly scheduled game will start 30 minutes after the completion of the first game and last seven innings.

Hearne Christopher Jr.
Kansas City Star - Jun 22, 2003
"Voice of the T-Bones Tanna Guthrie's take on the new ball game in town: 'It's cheap,' Guthrie gushes. 'I mean, for $4.50 you can take a blanket and sit on the lawn near the outfield and I guarantee you, before the night's over, there's going to be a player on your lap. Because the retaining wall's only about 21/2 feet tall. So when a player's diving for a ball, they'll be landing in your lap.' "

"Tuesday is 'Mullet Night' at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. All fans with a mullet hairstyle or mullet wig -- you know, 'Business in the front, party in the back!' -- get a free outfield berm ticket."
